A long-running community resource in Baldwin Park will expand after Congress approved millions of dollars in federal funding for the project.
The Teri G. Muse Family Service Center, located at 14305 Morgan St., has served residents since 1996 by connecting families with health programs, counseling services and nonprofit assistance.
City officials say the funding will support construction of a larger, modernized facility that can serve more residents and partner organizations.
The investment comes as many local families face rising housing costs and growing demand for social services.
Federal Investment Moves Project Forward
Earlier this year, U.S. Rep. Gil Cisneros secured 3.15 million dollars in federal funding through the Community Project Funding process.
The allocation was included in Fiscal Year 2026 federal spending legislation approved by Congress in February.
Congressional records list the Baldwin Park project under the Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Fund.
City leaders say the funding will support construction of an expanded facility designed to accommodate more nonprofit providers and programs.
Officials said the improvements will allow the center to increase service capacity and improve access for residents seeking assistance.
Details about the project appear on the city’s website at https://www.baldwinpark.com.
Earlier Federal Grant Supported Planning Phase
The expansion effort began before the most recent federal allocation.
In 2023, former U.S. Rep. Grace F. Napolitano secured 750,000 dollars in federal funding through the federal omnibus budget.
City officials said the earlier grant supported the planning and design phase of the project.
Initial plans called for expanding the facility by about 12,000 square feet.
The proposal includes new meeting rooms, office space for nonprofit organizations, a family resource room and a commercial kitchen to support community programs.
Community Hub Serves Families Across Region
The center is named for Teri G. Muse, a Baldwin Park community leader and founding member of the Baldwin Park Business Association.
Since opening in the mid-1990s, the facility has hosted recovery groups, hygiene services, youth programs and other outreach efforts.
Local officials say the expansion will strengthen partnerships with nonprofit organizations serving Baldwin Park and the surrounding San Gabriel Valley.
The upgraded facility is expected to provide space for a wider range of services.
Those services may include health and wellness programs, legal assistance, family counseling and community education.
City leaders say the goal is to create a centralized location where residents can access several forms of support during a single visit.
Demand for those services has grown as communities across the region face economic challenges.
Officials say the project will allow Baldwin Park to better connect residents with programs designed to support families and strengthen community stability.
