El Monte-Rosemead Adult School will offer an Introduction to Emergency Medical Services course this summer, giving local residents hands-on training in emergency response and patient care.

The four-week program begins June 15 and runs through July 16 at the El Monte-Rosemead Adult School campus, located at 10807 Ramona Blvd. in El Monte. Classes will meet Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon.

According to program information released by the school, the course will introduce students to the roles and responsibilities of emergency medical technicians and first responders. Participants will also receive instruction in patient assessment, vital signs, CPR, AED use, airway management, and treatment of medical and trauma emergencies.

EMRAS Summer EMS Program Training

The summer session includes communication and documentation training used in emergency medical services, along with hands-on skills practice and scenario-based learning activities designed to simulate real-world emergencies.

School officials said the course is approved by the California Emergency Medical Services Authority and offered through a fully accredited institution. The registration fee is $25, and participants must be at least 18 years old to enroll.

The program aims to provide foundational experience for adults interested in healthcare careers, emergency response work, or future EMT certification programs. Organizers said the course may benefit students exploring pathways in public safety and medical services.

El Monte-Rosemead Adult School serves adult learners throughout the San Gabriel Valley and offers career technical education, high school diploma programs, English language instruction, and workforce preparation courses. District leaders said programs like the EMS course help connect adult learners with growing workforce opportunities across Los Angeles County.

Career Opportunities Through EMRAS

The summer course expands access to career training opportunities for residents seeking practical skills and entry points into healthcare and emergency response professions.

School administrators said demand for healthcare training programs continues to grow across the region as employers seek qualified workers in emergency response and patient care fields. Officials encouraged interested residents to register early because enrollment space for the summer session may be limited.
