The Irwindale Student Art Contest is giving local students a chance to celebrate America’s history through creative expression. The City of Irwindale and the Irwindale Public Library are accepting entries for the “Stars, Stripes and Possibilities” Art and Writing Contest, a community program tied to the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary.
The contest is open exclusively to Irwindale residents in transitional kindergarten through 12th grade. Students may submit either artwork or written pieces inspired by patriotic themes, civic values and the future of the United States. Organizers hope the program will encourage young people to explore history while sharing their own ideas and perspectives.
A first-place winner will receive a $100 gift card. Contest entries must be submitted by June 15, 2026.

Part Of America’s 250th Anniversary Celebration
The contest coincides with nationwide recognition of America’s semiquincentennial, which marks 250 years since the nation’s founding in 1776. Across the country, communities, schools and civic organizations are planning activities that encourage residents to reflect on the nation’s history and its future.
Promotional materials for the contest feature patriotic imagery and the America 250 logo. Organizers are encouraging participants to think about the meaning of citizenship, freedom and community as they develop their entries.
For local families, the Irwindale Student Art Contest provides an opportunity to combine creativity with civic engagement. Students can express their ideas through visual art or writing while competing for a prize and representing their community. The program also highlights the library’s ongoing role in supporting youth education and creating opportunities for young residents to share their talents with the broader community.
