Mountain View School District will launch a new evening meal service through the federal Child and Adult Care Food Program, expanding food access for students in El Monte.
The Mountain View Supper Program will provide free suppers to enrolled children at Willard E. Payne Elementary School and Twin Lakes School, according to a public announcement released by the District. District officials said the program supports student wellness and helps families facing rising food costs.
The federally funded initiative operates through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Child and Adult Care Food Program, commonly known as CACFP. School leaders said the District must notify local media outlets about participation in the program to help increase awareness among families throughout the community.
In a letter sent to Mid Valley News, Mountain View School District Public Information Officer Jocelyn Rios said the District wants to improve access to meal services for children within its attendance area.
Mountain View Supper Program Expands Services
Under the program, free evening meals will be available to enrolled students attending the participating campuses. Payne Elementary School is located at 2850 N. Mountain View Road in El Monte, while Twin Lakes School is located at 3900 Gilman Road.
District officials said the supper program adds another layer of support for students who participate in after-school activities or remain on campus later in the day. Administrators said access to nutritious meals can improve concentration, attendance, and student well-being.
The Child and Adult Care Food Program serves communities across the country by helping schools and educational agencies provide meals at no cost to eligible participants. Federal guidelines prohibit discrimination based on race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, or prior civil rights activity.
The public release also outlines income eligibility guidelines connected to the program. Children from households receiving benefits through CalFresh, CalWORKs, or the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations automatically qualify for free meal benefits under federal standards.
Food Access Remains Community Priority
Mountain View School District serves families throughout El Monte and South El Monte and has continued expanding wellness and support programs in recent years. District officials said the supper initiative reflects broader efforts to address student needs both inside and outside the classroom.

The Mountain View Supper Program will begin serving students as part of the District’s continued partnership with federal child nutrition programs supporting local families.
